When you are heading off on your family holiday are you prepared?

  • Are you aware of your possible fatigue levels before setting off? See our Fatigue Calculator.
  • Are you aware of how long it will be before your fatigue levels could be dangerous? See our Fatigue Calculator.
  • Have you had your vehicle serviced recently?
  • Have you had a recent vehicle safety check?
  • Have you checked all of your vehicle's fluid levels?
  • Have you checked your tyres and their pressure?
  • Do you have a safety vest in case you have to get out of the car on the roadside? Best to have at least 2 in case you need assistance.
  • Do you have a set of 3 warning triangles in case you break down? One at the front of the vehicle, one in the middle and one at the rear.
  • Do you have a substantial first aid kit in the car? Small kits are of little value if a serious accident was to occur.
  • Do you have protective rain gear in case you have change a tyre in the wet? This is best kept in the glove box.
  • Do you have 2 wheel chocks in case you need to change a tyre on slopey or unstable ground?
  • Do you have a magnetic flashing lights for the top of your vehicle if you are parked in an unsafe position?
  • Do you have a fire extingusher in your vehicle?
  • Have you fitted wheel nut indicators to know if your wheel nuts have worked loose after traveling over rough roads?
