- Danger Signs - 'Danger' Header on white sign with black text (No Pictos unless they are boxed seperately).
The risk could kill someone or cause serious injury
- Hazard - Warning Signs - Hazard picto on yellow sign with black text.
The risk is unlikey to cause death or serious injury if caution is applied, but could hurt someone or cause injury. (Apply risk assessment - if in doubt use Danger signs.)
* Note under AS 1319 - 1994 the words Caution and Warning have been replaced with the hazard picto.
- Prohibition Signs - Red prohibition symbol (circle with slash) on white sign with black text.
Situations, actions or outcomes which can not be done or carried out.
The risk is unlikey to cause death or serious if caution is applied to the enviroment, but could hurt someone or cause injury. (Apply risk assement - if in doubt use Danger signs.)
- Mandatory Signs - Mid-blue picto or mandatory symbol on white sign with black text.
A white sign with black text can be used but should be used with caution as pictos are more commonly used and recognised, exceptions are signs requiring a lot of text or entry signs to Commercial, Industrial, Building sites eg. "Visitors Must Report To Office"
Situations, actions or outcomes which must be done or carried out.
The risk is likely to cause injury or death if disobeyed (Apply risk assessment - if in doubt use a Danger sign in conjunction)
- Emergency Signs - Green sign with white text.
Emergency Exit, Emergency Assembly Points, MSDS, First Aid, Resuc. etc These signs help a reponse action to an accident or to locate vital first aid, trauma or emergency equipment.
- Fire Response Signs - AS 2444-2001 Red sign with white text
These signs help a reponse action to a fire risk in locating vital fire equipment or fire exit information.
- Emergency Stops Signs - Red sign with white text
These signs help a reponse in action to stop equipment or plant for safety or emergency reasons.
- Notice signs Do not use them for safety situations! Information Only!! one of the worst choices in the sign market!!
- Restricted Area Signs Do not use for safety situations. They relate to security situations.
